Om Natura

Natura – Filmfestival for natur og miljø er den første filmfestivalen i Norge som setter natur og klima i sentrum gjennom film, verksteder og samtaler. Festivalen byr på norske og internasjonale filmer og retter seg mot barn, ungdom og voksne.

Festivalen ble første gang arrangert i 2025, med Norsk Naturfilmforening og Kongsberg kino som hovedarrangører. Med Kongsberg kinos posisjon som inkluderende kulturarena og Norsk Naturfilmforenings arbeid med å styrke naturfilmens rolle i Norge, har festivalen et sterkt fundament. Samarbeidet bygger på frivillighet, lokalt engasjement og nasjonal fagkompetanse. Et bredt nettverk av lokale og nasjonale aktører støtter initiativet.

Natura tar utgangspunkt i at klima- og naturkrisen ikke bare er politiske og teknologiske utfordringer, men også kulturelle og eksistensielle. Festivalen vil derfor bruke filmens kraft – dens evne til å berøre, bevege og opplyse – til å skape nye rom for forståelse, ytring og demokratisk samtale om naturens rolle i våre liv.

I tillegg til festivaldagene planlegges det arrangementer, som filmvisninger og samtaler, gjennom året som bygger opp mot festivalen. På den måten blir prosjektet ikke bare et arrangement, men en plattform som skaper aktivitet og engasjement hele året.

Behovet for en slik arena er tydelig. I dialog med filmskapere, lærere, miljøorganisasjoner og lokale aktører ser vi et sterkt ønske om å koble film og naturformidling.

Natura skal gi varige ringvirkninger: en ny kulturarena i Kongsberg, økt læring og engasjement hos barn og unge, og en tydeligere stemme for film om natur og miljø i Norge.

Natura – Nature and environment film festival is the first film festival in Norway to place nature and climate at the center through film, workshops, and conversations. The festival features Norwegian and international films and targets children, youth, and adults.

The festival was organized for the first time in 2025, with the Norwegian Nature Film Association and Kongsberg Cinema as the main organizers. With Kongsberg Cinema's position as an inclusive cultural arena and the Norwegian Nature Film Association's work to strengthen the role of nature films in Norway, the festival has a strong foundation. The collaboration is built on volunteerism, local engagement, and national professional expertise. A broad network of local and national stakeholders supports the initiative.

Natura is based on the premise that the climate and nature crisis are not just political and technological challenges, but also cultural and existential ones. The festival therefore aims to use the power of film – its ability to touch, move, and enlighten – to create new spaces for understanding, expression, and democratic conversation about the role of nature in our lives.

In addition to the festival days, events such as film screenings and talks are planned throughout the year leading up to the festival. In this way, the project becomes not just an event, but a platform that generates activity and engagement all year round.

The need for such an arena is clear. In dialogue with filmmakers, teachers, environmental organizations, and local actors, we see a strong desire to connect film and nature communication.

Natura aims to create lasting ripple effects: a new cultural arena in Kongsberg, increased learning and engagement among children and young people, and a clearer voice for films about nature and the environment in Norway.
